Gianluca Breda


Gianluca Breda is an Italian Bass with an important and lyrical voice that merits attention. He has been praised as an important ‘Verdi bass’ of our time. His easy and consistent range, technique and natural acting skills allow him to venture into a various bass roles.

Simultaneously studying cello with the Master Enrico Contini, he discovers he has a very strong voice dowry and at just 24 years began studying singing with Ms. Giovanna Vighi at the Conservatory "A. Boito" of Parma.

Two years later he made his debut in Dijon Theatre, in France, playing the role of Zuniga in Carmen.

His career will continue in France where he sung 24 roles.


During this period Gianluca Breda sang in several French theaters in Paris, Bordeaux and Lyon.


In Italy he begins his carreer in 2001 with the opera Aida at the Sferisterio of Macerata and in theaters of Rovigo, Livorno, Pisa and Pavia.

At the opening of the Great Auditorium of Dijon in France, he made his debut as Ramfis in Aida.


In 2008 he made his debut at the Arena di Verona with Maestro Palumbo in the role of the King in Aida; in the same year will be Timur in Turandot at the Seoul Art Center in Korea, directed by Katia Ricciarelli.


He plays the roles of Don Basilio in The Barber of Seville in major Brazilian cities with the direction of Maestro John Neschling.


In Verona, Philharmonic Theatre, he made his debut as Angelotti in Tosca with Nicola Martinucci and Amarri Nizza.


In Malta and Lugano he debuts Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola, obteining a great success by critics and audiences.


Then he sang as Zuniga in Carmen with Opera in Rome alongside Andrea Bocelli, and in the Amphiteatre 3000 in Lyon, as Zaccaria in Nabucco, where he will be much applauded by the French public.


He sang in Petruzzelli Theatre in Bari the opera Madama Butterfly, as Zio Bonzo, with great public and critical ovation. Always in Petruzzelli of Bari he plays Zuniga in Carmen with Maestro Lorin Maazel, where he was especially appeciated for his scenic qualities actorial, receiving personal congratulations from Maestro.


In Trieste he made his debut as colline in Boheme with maestro Donato Renzetti; He returned in Arena di Verona with Carmen (Zuniga), directed by Zeffirelli during the 2012 season.

Always at the Arena di Verona he played: Traviata (Dr. Grenvil), Trovatore (Ferrando cover), Nabucco (the priest of Belo), Gala operatic (inauguration), Gala (Verdi) and Gala Domingo Harding, where he performed as Fiesco in Simon Boccanegra alongside Placido Domingo (2013 season).


In 2014 he was engaged in the following productions: Messa da Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi, Trovatore (Ferrando) and Rigoletto (Sparafucile) in Beijing, and La Cenerentola (Don Magnifico) in Lübeck.


In 2015, in January, he sings La Traviata (Dr. Grenvil) in Verona Philharmonic Theatre directed by maestro Marco Boemi. 

In March he interprets Zaccaria in Nabucco at the Greek Theatre Politeama Lecce, directed by maestro F. Ledda.


In May 2015 her debut at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in the role of the Mandarin in Turandot by Puccini, conducted by maestro Riccardo Chailly live worldwide for the Milan Expo opening.

Throughout the 2015 summer season (June to September) is involved in various roles at the Arena di Verona: Nabucco (Priest of Belo / cover Zaccaria), Tosca (Angelotti Cover), Aida (Ramfis, with Zeffirelli directing), Romeo et Juliette (cover Le Duc de Verone).

In October of the same year he returned to La Scala Theatre, playing opera Joan of Arc (cover Talbot), always under the direction of maestro R. Chailly.
